The NHMFL has established a full in-house Environmental Health and Safety Unit
in response to the requirements of the NSF Cooperative Agreement. The in-house
group reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and coordinates
activities with the FSU Department of Environmental Health and Safety. The
NHMFL Safety program encourages involvement by a large percentage of the
laboratory staff in the safety program through rotating memberships on the
Safety Committee. This committee meets regularly to review safety issues, and
it participates in the development of procedures and training programs, as well
as the environmental audit inspections.
